It is with great pleasure that I present to you the 2020 – 2021 Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education (ZIALE) Prospectus. There was a clear need to up – date this document as ZIALE has undergone some significant growth both in its scope and mandate.
With the introduction of the 7th National Development Plan (7NDP) and the completion of the ZIALE Strategic Plan 2019 – 2021, ZIALE needed to firstly renew and update the curriculum of all its traditional training Courses making them current and relevant to the needs of its clients, who are both legal and non-legal professionals, as well as to the needs of the country and the region.
Secondly, there was a resounding need to introduce fresh and relevant training programmes that will speak to and actualise ZIALE’s underlying function and purpose to contribute to and improve the Rule of Law, Human Rights and Constitutionalism in and outside Zambia.
The 2020 – 2021 ZIALE Prospectus brings the general public and indeed the legal fraternity up to speed with the up – dated traditional as well as the innovative new training programmres currently being offered at ZIALE. Our commitment is to participate fully in the acceleration of efforts towards Vision 2030 and to creating a new Zambia which is a “strong and dynamic middle – income industrial nation that provides opportunities for improving the well-being of all, embodying values of socio economic justice.”(The Government of Zambia. Zambia Vision 2030).
I extend my thanks to the Chairperson of the ZIALE Council Mr. Likando Kalaluka SC and all its members for the wise and objective leadership and guidance.
I will be remiss not to extend my sincere gratitude to the learned and distinguished men and women who make up both the lecturers and members of staff at ZIALE for their continuous dedication and hard work in ensuring that ZIALE continues to be at the forefront of the provision of quality practical legal training and provides an environment well suited and conducive to learning.
