Legal Practitioners Qualifying Examination (LPQE) Course

The Legal Practitioners Qualifying Examination Course is a one year six months programme.  Students who successfully complete this course of study are recommended for admission to the Zambian Bar.  Enrolment for this course is done after placement of advert in the media.

  • Domestic Relations
  • Criminal Procedure
  • Law of Evidence and Practice

Other subjects that are taught within the Legal Practitioners Qualifying Examination (LPQE) Course Syllabus are Trial Advocacy and Legal Writing.

Entry Requirements

To qualify for admission to the programme note the following:

  • Applications are received in line with Section 11 of the Legal Practitioners Act, Chapter 30 of the Laws of Zambia, Rule 6 (1) and Rule 6 (3) of the Student Rules under the Legal Practitioners Act.

Applicants must be holders of:

  • Five (5)  ‘O’  level  credits  or  better  in  English,  plus  four  (4)  other     Copies of certificates should be certified. Foreign certificates should be equated by Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ).
  • Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from a University recognised by the Council of ZIALE.
  • Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from a foreign University recognised by the Council of ZIALE.
  • Where remedial courses are given, they should have been passed at the time of application.
