			<description><![CDATA[<p>In the recent past, amendments have been made to the Legal Practitioners&rsquo; Act, and the Zambia Institute of Advance Legal Education Act.</p>
<p><strong>LEGAL PRACTIONERS&rsquo; ACT, CAP 30 OF THE LAWS OF ZAMBIA</strong></p>
<p>Section 2 subsection 11 of the Legal Practitioners&rsquo; Amendment Act of 2009 provides that:<br />
	Subject to subsection (1) of section thirteen, a person may be admitted as a practitioner if that person-<br />
	(a) is a holder of a degree in law obtained from a public university established under the University Act, 1999, and whose programme has been accredited by the Council of the Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education; or<br />
	(b) is a holder of a degree in law obtained from a private university registered in accordance with the provisions of the University Act, 1999, and whose programme has been accredited by the Council of the Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education; or<br />
	(c) is a holder of a degree in law obtained from a university outside Zambia in a country operating the Common Law system approved by the Council of the Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education and whose degree is recognised by a University accredited under the Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education Act as academically equivalent to a degree of that accredited university;</p>
<p><strong>ZAMBIA INSTITUTE OF ADVANCED LEGAL EDUCATION ACT, CAP 49 OF THE LAWS OF ZAMBIA</strong></p>
<p>Under Section 3 of the Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education Amendment Act of 2009, an Accreditation Committee has been constituted, which is mandated to;<br />
	(a) accredit law schools at private and public universities and set the criteria for accreditation;<br />
	(b) approve qualifications of foreign students who wish to be enrolled at the Institute.</p>]]></description>
