The Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education (ZIALE) has over the last four (4) decades distinguished itself as a centre of excellence in advanced legal education not only in Zambia but the sub-region as a whole. The Institute continues to pride in its faculty consisting of eminent legal luminaries from both the bench and the bar. The legal cadre natured by the Institute who have held and continue to hold high and influential legal and judicial positions not only in Zambia but the world over attest to the Institute’s commitment to excellence.

In our continued effort to maintain ZIALE’s pedigree, legislation on an accreditation system has been passed by Parliament which now empowers ZIALE through the Accreditation Committee to ensure quality in both public and private law schools in the country. This will enable us to secure the enrolment of learner legal practitioners of acceptable and sufficient capacity.

The Institute has also increased its focus on training legislative drafters from within the SADC region as part of its contribution to the development of sound legal frameworks at both national and regional levels. In this respect, a team of distinguished judges, legislative drafters and legal practitioners assembled to deliver the course, has put together a rigorous but exciting programme schedule.

Lastly, the Advanced Practical Prosecutors’ Course has been redesigned to answer to the numerous challenges faced by prosecutors in the various state agencies. The course now incorporates court observations and simulations that are tailor made. The enhanced practical drafting exercises are yet another available feature of this course taught by distinguished public prosecutors and judicial officers. These and other courses are earmarked for delivery every year.

ZIALE is resolved to continue propagating an acceptable pedigree of legal minds and will always assure excellence in the delivery of its programmes.
